Although vanadium (atomic symbol V) is an essential trace mineral for the body, it plays a small role. Scientists are not completely shore of the entire role this mineral plays in the body.
Benefits of Vanadium
Vanadium is used for diabetics sometimes to balance blood sugar levels. It also may help build your bones and teeth. It may reduce cholesterol, colon cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Sometimes vanadium is used by body-builders as a supplement to enhance performance, however, there is no evidence this actually works.
Too much vanadium may cause manic depression, upset stomachs, and vomiting. It severe cases it could cause kidney or liver damage. Its deficiency effects are unknown.
Vanadium Foods
Vanadium is found in many vegetables, if vanadium is present in the soil they are grown. It also found in whole grains, carrots, cabbage, seafood, corn, mushrooms, and parsley. It is suggested to consume anywhere from 2-25 mg of vanadium daily.
