What is Boron

Boron (atomic symbol B) is a trace mineral that is a chemical (nonmetallic) element. There is a debate as to whether boron is an essential element in humans or not. Boron is very interactive with other chemicals in minerals.

Benefits of Boron

Boron helps your bone structure by helping bones use calcium. This can lower your risk of osteoporosis. It helps regulate your calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus balance.

There are no known toxicity issues with boron. Not consuming enough boron may cause poor bone remodeling and poor calcium metabolism. This can lead to osteoporosis.

Boron Foods

Raisins, nuts, legumes, apples, grapes, and leafy greens are good sources of boron. It occurs in just about any food from a plant. It suggested consuming about 1 mg of boron per day. Because of the role boron plays with your bones, elderly people are sometimes told by their healthcare provider to consume more amounts of boron. Generally, most people consume enough in their diets and there isn't a huge need supplement boron.
