Knowing the signs of sleep deprivation is the first step in getting a good night of sleep. Many people experience sleep deprivation symptoms, are conscious of these symptoms, but don't know they suffer from sleep deprivation.
Sleep deprivation is a sleeping disorder caused by people not getting enough sleep.
The following are signals that may result from sleep deprivation:
- Feel tired during meetings, lectures, and while driving.

- You need an alarm clock to wake up and/or you are using the “snooze” button.
- You are sleeping longer on the weekends.
- It’s hard for you to roll out of bed.
- You fall asleep immediately when your head hits the pillow. It should take you 15-20 minutes before you fall asleep.
- You are daydreaming and not focusing on the task at hand.
- You take naps everyday – I am not discouraging naps but if they are a part of your daily routine, there is a good chance you are not sleeping enough at night.
- You have bags and dark circles under your eyes.
