Avoiding Jet Lag
Avoiding jet lag is something many people don't think about or know how to do it. Jet lag is the result of being tired from travel and your body adjusting to a time zone different than your body’s internal clock. The following are tips and suggestions to reduce jet lag:
- Start a sleep cycle several days in advance that matches the time zone you will be traveling too.
- Fly later in the day (no red eyes) and arrive a day in advance if possible so you can get a full night of sleep in your new time zone before you begin your work/activities.
- Make your plane travel as comfortable as possible. This means:
- Sit away from bathrooms and babies
- Avoid sunlight
- Find seats with more leg room (emergency isle seats are great for this)
- Take a pillow and blanket on the plane
- Take your shoes off or wear slippers
- Bring eyeshades, water, earplugs, a book, and/or music
- Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in
